Raising of Funds:

Ohel Rahel's set priority is to pass on all received funding to the people - money received through sponsorship goes straight into the purchase of food vouchers which are then given to the poor. No money is being used for administration, telephone or rental costs. These costs are taken over by the board members on a private basis.

The food vouchers are being financed through sponsorship, charity events and occasional advertisement for Ohel Rahel’s work in Jewish newspapers. The outstanding and constant efforts of Ohel Rahel’s board members, their families and friends give the necessary support to the main idea of Ohel Rahel - to guarantee enough food to every single Jew living in Vienna.

Voucher Distribution:

The selection of the beneficiaries of vouchers is done through social-workers of the IKG and 3 orthodox rabbis. These persons are well enough informed about the social and financial backgrounds of those who may be in need of our help.

Ohel Rahel hands over food vouchers on a quarterly basis to the according offices and places. We also double the amount of the monthly issued vouchers before any of the big Jewish holidays.

The vouchers can be used at a big Austrian supermarket-chain (currently the "Zielpunkt"-supermarkets) and in all kosher stores in Vienna (butcher’s shops, bakeries, kosher supermarkets).
